Combined Altitude and Vibration Testing
Sealed medical packaging will expand during shipment by air or shipment by truck at high altitudes. The expanded packaging can abrade during vibration because of how it contacts adjacent packages or packaging materials. This abrasion can cause loss of sterility. Simultaneous altitude and vibration testing is essential for sealed medical packaging in order to assure maintenance of sterility during air or high altitude ground transportation.

A large hydraulic transportation vibration simulator is used to perform all standard shipping vibration tests, combined with a cylindrical altitude chamber with interior dimensions of 41″ in height and 26″ in diameter. Custom test vessels are available for larger test samples.
We are able to perform the ISTA 3A Vibration with Low Pressure test (BLOCKS 2 & 8 of the ISTA 3A Standard). Our setup is fully compliant with ASTM D6653 and ISTA 3A.
