This test method is performed by submerging a package underwater, inflating it with air to a predetermined pressure, then visually inspecting for a steady stream of air bubbles. Bubble leak testing is used to identify pinholes, punctures, tears, or other defects in a package system that could allow ingress of microorganisms. This test method is also useful for packages that are too long or large to fit into other package integrity apparatuses.
